What is Escalator / Belt ?

In Turkey in recent years, shopping centers, airports, has increased the number of residential and metro station. With this changing aspect of our cities, the number of escalators and bands has also increased rapidly. These equipment, which provides the serial transfer of passengers from one point to another in their buildings, has become a part of our lives in big cities.

Establishing periodic control of escalators and belts carrying thousands of passengers, young, old, children during their working period, is required by the legislation. In accordance with the Health and Safety Requirements Regulation for the Use of Work Equipment, the periodic check that should be done at least once a year should not be confused with monthly maintenance.

During the periodic check, the “Technical Expert” determines whether the escalator or the belt is safe for the passenger as a result of the measurements and determinations it has made and reports it to the building manager. The technical specialist must be the person who has the necessary legislation for periodic control, can use the measuring devices, has sufficient knowledge and experience, and at the same time has strong communication. Periodic checks are carried out with the staff performing the monthly maintenance of the equipment under the supervision of a technical expert.

The functionality of the contacts within the safety circuit of the ladder / band walking along the periodic control is controlled electrically and mechanically. In this way, as a building supervisor, you can see if your equipment poses a danger to the passengers, and if it is dangerous, you will learn how to make the equipment safe with the advice of the technical specialist.
